For pastoral matters, including baptisms, weddings and funerals contact the Minister.

The Primitive Methodist Chapel at Silkstone Common was opened in September 1886. The building at the west end of the village is now a private dwelling. In August 1931 the present Chapel and Hall were opened in the centre of the village.

The Methodist Church in Silkstone Common is now one of the churches in the Barnsley Circuit of Methodism. Services are held each Sunday at 10.30am, with the service on the second Sunday of the month being at Dodworth Methodist Church at 10-15am. The Tuesday Group meets at 2-00pm each Tuesday for informal fellowship and craftwork.

Facilities within the premises have been updated in recent years to meet with the demands of our modern society. There is full disabled access to all parts of the premises, with toilet facilities for the disabled. The Church is equipped with an audio system including an induction loop for the hard of hearing. There is also a modern kitchen.

The church hall has recently been refurbished with new windows and heating system. In the absence of a village hall in Silkstone Common, the premises are extensively used by outside groups, including the Silkstone Common Ladies’ Choir, the Silkstone Common Good Companions, the Silkstone Common Women’s Institute and pre-school mother and toddler groups. The hall is frequently used for private children's parties. For use of the premises contact the Property Steward, Keith Jowett, 01226 790461 jowett945@btinternet.com
