Jays Wood, Hall Royd Lane, Silkstone Common now open
After months of work by CARE volunteers to create an entrance and footpath, install a bench and cut back lots of trees, Jays Wood is now open. Many thanks to all those who attended the grand opening in April 16.

Orchard Wood

Orchard Wood, Silkstone Common

Orchard wood can be accessed from Moorend Lane next to Silkstone Common school or from Woodland view. The wood includes a small meadow area which is home to a PALS memorial stone. CARE have worked for many years in the wood improving the footpaths and creating wildlife habitats.

Conroyd Wood

Conroyd Wood, Silkstone

Accessed either from Cone lane or from the Silkstone Recreation Ground. Conroyd wood is split down the middle by Silkstone beck and the footpath on the recreation ground side of the wood is part of the Silkstone waggon way. The Parish Council are hoping to progress a project to install nature trail boards through the woods in 2016/2017.

The Chestnuts, Silkstone

The Chestnuts site is just off Martin croft behind the doctors surgery. It is not really a wood, more an open space with Chestnut trees around the perimeter.

Allotment site, Silkstone

The Allotment site is accessible to allotment holders only and has 15 plots.  There are more than 15 residents on the waiting list for a plot at the moment so if anyone reading this knows of suitable allotment land please contact the Clerk.
