Great British High street 2015

Silkstone Parish Council has entered Silkstone High street into the GB High street competition. The village has undergone lots of improvements in the last few years with the facelift to the Red Lion, the renovation of the Stocks area and the new Bells Steakhouse. The application focused on the heritage of the village that can be seen all along High street from the Huskar memorial at the Church, the Huskar inquest plaque at the Red Lion, the stocks area, access to waggon way from High street and waggon way walk sign, Bells Steakhouse interior heritage links and the waggon at The Cross.  Many Thanks to Andy Horsfield, Jim Ritchie and Colin Bower who helped with heritage links and photographs. The deadline for applications is 1 September 15.  Look out on the Parish Council's facebook and twitter for #GBHighstreet and for posters popping up around the village and in the September edition of the Parish newsletter explaining how you can vote for your village high street.
