Community Groups
Many clubs and societies are active within Silkstone and Silkstone Common, with interests ranging from history to horticulture. Old Silkstone Brass Band has achieved success at national level. The two villages also have thriving Scouts and Guides groups, a Twinning Association, conservation societies and organisations devoted to mothers and toddlers.

Sports Clubs
The pavilion at Silkstone Recreation Ground (behind the Co-op and Petrol station) was built on 2000 and was funded partly by the National Lottery and the Sports Council. The Recreation Ground offers facilities that are rare in a community of this size.
