The villages of Silkstone and Silkstone Common
Welcome to the Silkstone Parish Website. The site contains news and information about businesses, community groups, schools and other happenings within the award-winning villages of Silkstone and Silkstone Common in South Yorkshire, England.
To avoid misunderstanding, it may be worth mentioning that the terms 'Parish' and 'Parish Council' refer to the local administrative district, and have no direct connection with the Church. Please see the section on the Parish Council for more information on what it is and does.
The Parish Council is responsible for Silkstone Recreation Ground and Pavilion, Allotments, Cone Lane Wood and Orchard Wood. The Parish Council represent the residents of Silkstone and Silkstone Common to Barnsley MBC and other authorities. They award grants to local groups annually. The Parish Council work with local organisations to improve facilities in the Parish.
Please note that matters such as refuse collection, highways, gritting, etc. are the responsibility of Barnsley MBC, and any enquiries or complaints should be directed to BMBC rather than the Parish Council.
